A new initiative to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in the RNA therapeutics sector in Quebec
CQDM is pleased to announce the launch of an ambitious new initiative to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in Quebec’s RNA therapeutics industry. Led by Axelys, in collaboration with several partners, this initiative is one of the five key initiatives of the mobilizing project on RNA therapies announced on April 30 by the Quebec government. The initiative has two main components, involving university research and scientific entrepreneurship.
Promoting and supporting university research
Axelys will set up a team dedicated to the RNA sector to support Quebec researchers in transforming their discoveries into innovations with high potential impact for society. This team will offer financial support and incentives to stimulate the commercialization of innovations based on RNA therapies. The goal is to double the number of patent applications for RNA therapy technologies filed in Quebec over the next three years.
Support for scientific entrepreneurship and the creation of new companies
Axelys will also be developing a scientific entrepreneurship support program specifically for the RNA therapeutics sector. This initiative, consisting of a substantial envelope, will support new start-ups to be created in Quebec over the next three years. In addition, the program includes access to mentors to help entrepreneurs develop their business plans. Entrepreneurs will also be encouraged to use the specialized resources of incubators and gas pedals active in Quebec.
